Emergency dental care: what you need to know

The emergency dentists at Aspen Dental can address everything from common oral discomfort to severe dental injuries. If you are experiencing any of the following dental emergencies, here is what you should do:

If your tooth or teeth are aching or are in pain, especially if it’s keeping you from eating, see your Aspen Dental emergency dentist as soon as possible. We take discomfort and pain seriously, and want to get you back to enjoying life sooner than later.

While a visit is needed to create the best treatment plan for your needs, fillings, root canals and emergency tooth extractions are all common treatments to help alleviate your pain. If you’re experiencing pain for your natural teeth, or after you’ve had dental implant surgery, let your care team know immediately. It’s important to address any potentially infected or distressed teeth right away to avoid more long-term problems. For more assistance, give your local Aspen Dental office a call.

Go to an emergency dentist right away. If your tooth is broken or chipped, bring the tooth fragment wrapped in wet gauze or a wet towel and we’ll get you back to smiling in no time.

Depending on the state of your tooth, your emergency dentist may recommend crowns or fillings to cover up chipped teeth and give you back your beautiful smile.

If your tooth becomes loose due to trauma, seek immediate help from an emergency dentist. For a tooth that has fallen out, try to gently insert the lost tooth back into its socket. Hold the tooth in place by the crown using a clean washcloth. If the tooth is dirty, first rinse the root, but do not scrub it or remove any attached tissues. If reinsertion is not possible, hold the tooth under the tongue and go to the dentist immediately. Either way, seek immediate help from an emergency dentist near you.

If your tooth isn’t able to successfully reattached, we can repair your smile with dental implants and dental bridges to fill any gaps.

If you’re experiencing a dental emergency with bleeding and swollen gums, we can help. Get immediate assistance from our emergency dentists at an Aspen Dental near you.

Frequently, bleeding or swollen gums are caused by a gum infection or gum disease, such as periodontal disease. For fast relief, your care team will assess your mouth and symptoms to prescribe a personalized treatment plan that addresses your pain or discomfort as quickly as possible.

If you do need periodontal disease treatment, your care team will also give you guidance for long-term care to help ensure the health of your teeth and gums gets back on track.

If your dentures have been damaged, we’ve got you covered. Your local team of denture experts offer effective fast denture repair and relining services so you can get back to smiling, speaking and eating ASAP.

If we assess your denture as irreparable, we also provide a range of denture replacement options that can be custom-crafted to you.

24-hour emergency dentist

If you are experiencing a dental emergency, it's important to seek care as soon as possible. Delaying treatment can lead to further damage, pain, and even more expensive dental procedures in the future. Contact your emergency dentist or local emergency dental clinic for immediate care.

24-hour dental emergency

Here are some common types of 24-hour emergency dental care services:

  • Toothache relief: A 24-hour emergency dentist can provide quick relief from severe tooth pain by identifying the root cause of the pain and prescribing pain relief medication, antibiotics, or other treatments.

  • Emergency tooth repair: If you have a chipped or broken tooth, a 24-hour emergency dentist can repair or replace the tooth to prevent further damage and restore your smile.

  • Dental abscess treatment: A dental abscess is a bacterial infection that can cause severe pain and swelling. A 24-hour emergency dentist can drain the abscess and provide antibiotics to prevent the infection from spreading.

  • Emergency tooth extraction: If a tooth is severely damaged or infected, a 24-hour emergency dentist may recommend a tooth extraction to prevent the problem from spreading to other teeth.
