What affects the cost of a dental checkup?
Dental office location
Your local office’s location may impact the overall cost of your checkup. Office fee schedules can be affected by the cost of rent and utilities, which may be higher in urban areas vs. rural areas. Check with your office for more details.
Required number of x-rays
Your checkup may include 4 bitewing x-rays; however, if deemed medically necessary, your doctor may recommend more as needed based on the current state of your oral health.
Insurance or financing
The cost of your care depends on whether or not you have dental insurance. No insurance? No worries! Learn more about our insurance and financing solutions. We do not accept Medicaid.

How much is a dental checkup without insurance?
The cost of a dental check up without dental insurance varies based on your office location. At Aspen Dental, if you’re a new patient without insurance and are over the age of 21, most Aspen Dental locations offer a free exam and checkup to ensure you get the care you need.⁴ For other dental offices or non-participating Aspen Dental locations, average checkup price starts at $90 per exam, not including a routine cleaning.
